COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) funds research and innovation networks, connecting initiatives across Europe and beyond. These bottom-up, four-year Actions foster collaboration, boost research and innovation, and support career development across various science and technology fields.
Genetic diversity is crucial for species adaptation, survival, and biodiversity conservation, yet its integration into management and monitoring in Europe is hindered by capacity gaps and outdated national policies. GENOA aims to address these challenges by co-developing methods, indicators, and dissemination tools for genetic diversity, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and enhancing the use of genetic data in monitoring and conservation efforts.
Emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) pose a growing national security threat, driven by climate change, urbanization, and globalization. The PRAGMATICK COST action applies the Stockholm paradigm and the DAMA protocol to anticipate and mitigate the risks of ticks and tick-borne pathogens (TBPs), focusing on urban hotspots, citizen science, and capacity building to enhance prevention and understanding of these vectors across Europe.
